The Motivation: Reclaiming Strength After Pregnancy
Julie’s fitness journey didn’t start in the gym—it began in a moment of deep self-reflection.
Before becoming pregnant with her son, Julie led a very active lifestyle. But pregnancy brought unexpected challenges. “I didn’t know how to be active in a way that was sustainable and manageable throughout my pregnancy,” Julie shares. And it took a toll. A childhood orthopedic condition, compounded by her limited movement during pregnancy, led her down a difficult path—ten full months of physical therapy postpartum.
But she wasn’t willing to stay stuck in that chapter.
“I knew I wanted to have another child, but I also wanted to be stronger. I was determined to gain a better understanding of how to care for myself and stay active all throughout pregnancy.”
That determination lit the fire for the next phase of her journey—and today, with her daughter now 19 months old, Julie is back to doing the things she loved before motherhood.
Overcoming Challenges with Grit and Grace
Transitioning into motherhood is no small feat. Six months after starting her fitness journey with us at Future Fitness, Julie became a full-time stay-at-home mom. That shift came with its own set of challenges—less time, less energy, and more on her plate.
“Getting to the gym was hard,” she admits. “But my husband has been incredibly supportive. He helps me find time to come in a couple of evenings a week when the kids are in bed, and we even get childcare a few days a month so I can take care of my own needs.”
Together, they built a home gym, and soon her husband joined her workouts in the evenings—turning fitness into a shared passion, and a new way to connect as a couple.
Now that’s what we call teamwork.
Changing Her Relationship with Fitness
Before joining Future Fitness, Julie wasn’t a fan of gyms.
“I always avoided them. I preferred sports or hiking. The idea of a traditional gym didn’t appeal to me,” she recalls.
But something changed. The welcoming community. The encouraging trainers. The personalized, judgment-free vibe of Future Fitness made her see things differently.
“Now I enjoy the challenge of pushing myself. The trainers and the people here have completely changed my mindset. I actually look forward to it.”
That shift in mindset is what we’re most proud of—because fitness isn’t just about physical progress. It’s about falling in love with the process and realizing your body is capable of so much more than you thought.
Words of Wisdom from Julie
When asked what advice she’d give to someone just beginning their fitness journey, Julie offered this:
“Stick with it, stay open to new things, and don’t be afraid to ask questions.”
Such a simple and powerful truth. Progress doesn’t come from perfection—it comes from persistence.
